Long Pole/Staff Form
The pole is long ( usually 3m or longer, made of white waxwood so it is flexible but resilient) but the form is short (13 moves). This form is one of the traditional methods to train whole body power and fajin (explosive release of strength).A long staff is necessary for practice but it is no problem learning the form with a short (6ft) staff (there will be a limited number of short staffs/rattans available for those who cannot bring their own - please let us know when booking.) Suitable for all levels of experience. |

Chan Si Gong & Fajin
Master Chen will teach Chan Si Gong (Silk Reeling exercises) and basics of the Chen style fajin (explosive power release).
The Silk Reeling exercises are important in the development of the qi flow in the body and ultimately they help to develop Chan Si Jin - silk reeling energy - the core of Taijiquan. These spiralling, coiling movements exercise all joints, help to develop connections within the body and also train dantian rotation. The skill of fajin is difficult to acquire and Master Chen's instruction and hands-on help can be invaluable. Suitable for all levels of experience. |
