Special seminars 26 May - 4 June 2015

Chen Style Taijiquan

If you are interested in any of the seminars, please fill in the form below or contact CIAA directly.

Chen Taijiquan Xinjia Yilu Form
This is a more advanced and dynamic form, based on the standard Laojia form but containing more coiling, folding and fajin (explosive moves). It places greater demand on students' concentration and co-ordination and thus helps to speed up their progress.
Open only to students who know either whole Laojia form or at least part of Xinjia form.
when:Tuesday/Wednesday 26/27 May, 10:00 - 17:30
where: Alfred Sutton Primary School, 148 Wokingham Road, Reading, RG6 1JR see directions and a map
cost: £160 in advance / £190 cash on the door (£90 / £100 Tuesday only)

Long Pole/Staff Form
The pole is long ( usually 3m or longer, made of white waxwood so it is flexible but resilient) but the form is short (13 moves). This form is one of the traditional methods to train whole body power and fajin (explosive release of strength).

A long staff is necessary for practice but it is no problem learning the form with a short (6ft) staff (there will be a limited number of short staffs/rattans available for those who cannot bring their own - please let us know when booking.)
Suitable for all levels of experience.
when: Thursday 28 May, 10:00 - 17:30
where: Alfred Sutton Primary School, 148 Wokingham Road, Reading, RG6 1JR see directions and a map
cost: £80 in advance / £90 cash on the door

Chen Taijiquan Laojia Erlu Form (Paochui - Cannon Fist)
This is the second Laojia form designed to train fajin (explosive moves).
Open only to students who know the whole Laojia Yilu form.
when:Friday 29 May, 10:00 - 17:30
where: Alfred Sutton Primary School, 148 Wokingham Road, Reading, RG6 1JR see directions and a map
cost: £90 in advance / £100 cash on the door

Chen Taijiquan Laojia Yilu Form - advanced instructions
In addition to correcting students' postures and movement, Master Chen will also go into more detail about the use of dantian and 'qi circulation' in individual movements of the form.
Knowledge of the complete Laojia form is essential. If you do not know the whole Laojia form, you can still apply but mention this fact and if there is space, we will contact you.
when:Weekend 30 May/31 May, 10:00 - 17:30
where: Alfred Sutton Primary School, 148 Wokingham Road, Reading, RG6 1JR see directions and a map
cost: £160 in advance / £190 cash on the door (£90 / £100 Saturday only)

Chan Si Gong & Fajin
Master Chen will teach Chan Si Gong (Silk Reeling exercises) and basics of the Chen style fajin (explosive power release).
The Silk Reeling exercises are important in the development of the qi flow in the body and ultimately they help to develop Chan Si Jin - silk reeling energy - the core of Taijiquan. These spiralling, coiling movements exercise all joints, help to develop connections within the body and also train dantian rotation.
The skill of fajin is difficult to acquire and Master Chen's instruction and hands-on help can be invaluable.
Suitable for all levels of experience.
when:Tuesday 2 June, 19:00 - 22:00
where: Alfred Sutton Primary School, 148 Wokingham Road, Reading, RG6 1JR see directions and a map
cost: £45 in advance / £55 cash on the door
